10 Random Things on A Friday
I don’t seem to have the energy to put together coherent sentences right now (thanks to Snuza for giving a false alarm at 3am and Baby MPB for then waking up at the unusually early hour of 4:30am). So, today I’m going to share a completely random list of things floating around in my mind:
- Dinner parties no longer seem to exist in our lives. Now, we do lunches. And lunches are great.
- Baby MPB is a wonderful sleeper and often falls asleep for the night within 10-15 minutes and he pretty much sleeps through the night except for 1 feeding around 11:30pm (I know we are spoiled). We used to have him sleep in his pack n play in the living room so one of us was always right next to him. But, now he spends his nights in his room and I hate it. I feel like I’m putting him away, and so I hate putting him to bed. Like, really hate it! I try to find creative ways to make Mr. MPB put Baby MPB to bed most nights.
- I just received a new work project which is a good thing since I’m a consultant and I never know when my next project is going to come along. I’m excited and yet rather anxious.
- I love our new nanny. She doesn’t fold laundry like the last one did, which I do miss. But, she does a phenomenal job with Baby MPB and she loves our dog too. I’m already sad that we will be saying good bye to her in a few months.
- Baby MPB is growing up too fast. Yet, I’m surprised that this doesn’t make me very sad. Rather, I’m excited. I love watching him grow and develop and I’m so excited to see what he will do next.
- I found 2 massive used book sales last weekend with children books priced at $1.00 and $0.50. I am embarrassed by the number of books I bought (128), but I am thrilled that I spent less then $75 on all the books. And so many were books I remember from my childhood. This made me seriously happy.
- It’s a long weekend here and the weather is supposed to be miserable and Mr. MPB might be away for a night leaving Baby MPB and I on our own for our first ever night. So I’m looking to find some fun indoor activities for the weekend. Maybe it’s time for Baby MPB’s first time swimming?
- I adore amazon prime, so long as I don’t think about how horribly they apparently treat their staff. We buy almost everything for Baby MPB on amazon including diapers and formula. Amazon is almost always cheaper then anywhere else and it saves me the time and effort of actually going shopping. Since I hate shopping and don’t have a lot of extra time these days, this is a huge win in my life.
- I hate adoption bureaucracy, but I think I may be winning this battle! I should know for sure soon, but I’m optimistic for the first time in a few weeks.
- I’ve been running at least 3 times per week for a few weeks now. It feels good, except for my one calf muscle which is revolting at the moment. That said, I’m dreading this morning’s run in the rain.

I buy EVERYTHING on Amazon except for groceries. And I feel guilty all the time because I know the mistreat their workers. 😦
Good for you for running again! I need to take a page from your book and start exercising. I feel like a blob most days. I walk and cycle everywhere but my body is used to that ‘exercise’ and it makes no difference in the way my body looks and feels anymore.

If Amazon would send me groceries, I’d buy my groceries from them too! Seriously, it’s just too easy. But, like you I feel soooo guilty because I prefer to support high places that respect their staff…..
As for running. It’s hard to make the time for it. Seriously hard! In fact we have no groceries in our house right now and i’d be much smarter to go grocery shopping this morning then to go for a run in the rain…. But, I’m sticking to my running so Mr. MPB can find something creative to make for supper from essentially nothing. 🙂

Look at you, mama… You’re kicking butt at this parenting thing!
Also, have you come across the BabyLit series? As a fellow bibliophile, I’m obsessed with them. I mean, who doesn’t love introducing your child to opposites through the wonder and magic of Sense & Sensibility?! Baby books, FTW!

I did not know about the BabyLit series!! By the time I finished adding all the ones to my cart, I would have spent more $ then I did for all 128 books I bought last weekend! I decided that purchase can wait a little while. But they are now sitting in my amazon cart just waiting to be bought. 🙂

HA! I’ve been buying them little by little as a treat for me… I mean, Chick.

I can’t with Amazon, although I respect those who use the service because sometimes you just need that ease and cheapness in your otherwise chaotic life. I also don’t believe in putting the onus of a corporation’s actions on the individual consumer. We each chose our battles against inequality where/when we can. But as a former retail employee, they make my skin crawl. I wish they’d just replace their entire workforce with robots already because that would be more humane.
Omg books! You hit the motherload! Jelly. 🙂 But also so glad for Baby MPB.
I hope you win that adoption battle and then – the war! ❤

I 100% respect what you are saying about amazon. I do believe the way I spend my money has the ability to influence companies and I regularly make decisions to support stores that match my ethics. Which is why it makes me feel so horrible to shop at amazon and support a company with such a negative work environment. One day I’ll stop shopping there, but just not right now while I’m trying to do a little bit of everything and I need something to be easy. Unfortunately.
And yes, those book. They make me happy. As far as I’m concerned if I can pass my book addiction onto Baby MPB, I will consider myself a bit of a success. 🙂

I too am an Amazon addict! And books too! I mean, I love Amazon like they’re my family!
I’m glad you have so many things to be happy about! I know it wasn’t a “happy about” post but it kind of ended up being that… Which tells me you are kind of happy! X

Hahaha! I will admit I don’t love amazon like they’re my family, but I do really like them!! You know, I didn’t even realize this was effectively a happy list. But yes, I guess it is and yes I must be happy these days. 🙂

I want to find a book sale! It’s insane the price of books these days. I also look for books I loved as a child. I don’t have Amazon prime, and I think B is thankful for that lol! So happy the nanny is working out well! Hope you have fun on your weekend alone with the baby!

I know, the price of books is stupid! It drives me crazy because I firmly believe that every kid in the world should have books but when they cost so much it’s not always possible. I’ll definitely be sending your baby some of Baby MPB’s favorite books. 🙂

Aww thank you! Does he enjoy his blanket I made at all?

Oh my gosh does he ever!!! I won’t let it out of the house because I’m afraid it will get super dirty or get lost. I love it and I hope it becomes “his” blanket when he’s a bit bigger. I’ll send you a photo from today. 😊

That is an impressive book haul!! I’d love to see some of your favourites.

The book haul basically made my entire week. It’s going to take me forever to read them, which is an awesome problem to have. To of my favourites that I found are Henry’s Awful Mistake and Golly Gump Swallowed a Fly – I loved them when I was little so re-finding them was sort of special. I also picked up a lot of Disney books because I love Disney. 🙂

Amazon saves my life on a regular basis. Who has time for real shopping??? Not this mama! Also, I am totally jealous of your book haul! That is amazing!

I just cannot live without Amazon these days! We buy used for Baby MPB whenever possible, but if it’s new it’s almost guaranteed to come from Amazon.
And yes, those books are pretty amazing! I would have bought more if Mr. MPB didn’t draw the line at 2 backpacks full plus all my arms could carry. 🙂

Funny, when I wrote this I didn’t even think about the mom stuff. Funny how quickly it just becomes part of everything! 😊
I have found that amazon is the absolute best price for all things baby. It’s fantastic!

Yay for 10 amazing things 🙂 I am getting the books together for baby MPB once I get back home from a family visit. So excited to share some Aussie ones with him. I think it is fascinating to watch them grow and develop. What they find interesting and how their personality develops.

I love all of these but especially #5. My Pediatrician gave me the best advice when I took my son to his one week old appointment. He said celebrate him getting older because he is becoming more and more who he was meant to be. Don’t fight it or make it sad, celebrate it. I have been able to do that and it is such a gift. Xo

I too am a huge fan of Amazon! I can usually even find any sensory/autism products her therapists want me to buy.
Those books… Oh my what a haul! I am a little jealous because I haven’t even been into a used book store in forever! Baby MPB is all set for some great reading and story times!

Yay, you’re running!!!!!
I hated putting Matthew to bed for the very same reason… I felt like was putting away a really fun toy. I wrote an entire post on it once! Now…. I’m all “GET IN BED!”

Yes, it’s absolutely like putting away a really fun toy!! And who wants to put away a really fun toy?
But something tells me I’ll also be saying get in bed soon enough. 😊
