Driving Mr. MPB Crazy

So, I’m barely into the real adoption waiting period and it donned on me that I am really going to suck at the waiting to be matched time period.

I have never been known for my patience.  Rather I am very well known for my impatience.

So, I already know that this adoption wait is not going to be easy for me.  And it may make Mr. MPB’s life extra miserable as he is likely going to hear about my impatience more then anyone else.

As he recently realized my impatience will result in random comments from me like:

  • I wonder if we will ever be chosen
  • Are you hating this wait as much as me?
  • Why isn’t this wait bugging you as much as it is me?
  • I wonder how many times our profile has been shown this week?
  • It’s odd to say, but our baby could already be conceived out there.  There could be someone out there right now making a decision that will forever change their lives, our lives and our child’s life.
  • Seriously, how long are we going to be stuck waiting and living in limbo?
  • Have you checked your phone today to make sure you haven’t missed a call from someone?
  • What are we going to do for the next milestone of being matched with baby?
  • What other necessities do we need to have for baby?  Which brand of baby monitor should we get?  Or stroller? Or bottle?  Or formula?
  • I wonder if we are going to have a boy or a girl?
  • Do you think we’ll actually get twins?
  • Are you sure you’ve checked your phone today?

So, we’ve officially decded that I am going to drive Mr. MPB insane as we wait!

Typically I’d say something like wish me luck, but today I think it’s Mr. MPB who needs the well wishes!!  Clearly I am going to drive him crazy as I verbalize every thought, day in and day out.  This wait is going to be tough!

  1. I know I am driving DH insane with my TWW anxiety, too. Our poor husbands – but they knew what they were getting into when they married impatient wives, right?! Haha!

  2. I’m right with you on impatience. I use it all up on daycare so I have none left for anything else, lol. Here is hoping you don’t have to wait too long!

    • Hahaha! I have no idea how you run a daycare – I think you must have more patience then I could ever dream to have. 🙂
I think adoption takes waiting to a whole new level – sometimes I think the entire point of the adoption process is to train us into becoming more patient people. Except so far I’m proving to be untrainable.

  3. Sounds like me bugging my husband off. Dont worry, most men are experts at tuning any repetitive noise from us. He has probably already learned to zone out while looking engaged in your conversation. Maybe when you ask him these questions, throw in the “i want to do it with you right now” sentence. Trust me, no response, he has zones out :)))

  4. I love how excited you are! I know Mr. MPB is also excited too. 🙂

  5. I think you sound like an excited mommy!! How fun 🙂 But, Mr. MPB – Just be patient, she’s just excited!!

You two are going to thrive in this wait!! I can’t wait to watch it all unfold! XO

  6. Sounds like me and my nesting right now lol. DW just finished the school year, and I’ve already got her prepping the nursery. Today she expressed how much work she’s been doing and needs some acknowledgement for it. My bad. Crazy preggo nesting kicking in. I think our brand of crazy is justified though- we’re overprepared perfectionists right? We don’t hear people complaining about it when we’re planning trips/vacations now do we? Lol. Hang in there. Vent to me if you need to. I don’t mind friend 🙂

    • I love that you are also driving DW crazy!! At least I’m not the only one driving my spouse crazy! Isn’t it grate that they tolerate the over-prepared perfectionists in us?? 🙂

      • Yup, sure is! And the pestering has paid off too! Dumplin’s room has been painted!! We still need to do a little building in the closet (turning it into a set-in dresser/change table), but some furniture has been moved in too now! How’s your baby prep coming?

  7. I can help you with this, since I’ve been going insane waiting and found some ways to really allow myself to be at peace with the situation. Do you have email? I could tell you in more detail some of the challenges I got through with my “mantras” and viewing this wait with a different lenses.

  8. Also, if it’s twins you’re interested in, I saw a situation recently where they are having a hard time finding parents for twins due in a couple months. It’s bc twins cost more to adopt, which is ridiculous. Anyway, not sure of your adoption budget but if it’s pretty high you might like the situation. I’ll find it and post a link. You’re in Canada right, but planning to adopt from the U.S.?

  9. It’s good practice for when your family is complete. If he’s annoyed at you now… What’s he going to do when kids are asking “why?” to every question or wondering “are we there yet?” Every 2 mins on a road trip.

  10. Ugh, wait to get pregnant, wait to miscarry, wait years to discover it’s not working, wait to adopt. I hope that’s not hurtful, I just feel for you. I want to give you a hug. You do whatever you need to do to get through this. I’d be excited and curious and analytical to a fault.

    • I so appreciated this comment. You are right, it’s been YEARS of coping and just waiting. I am so excited for the day that we are done waiting! That we can just live like it seems everyone else is. One day, it will happen…right?

  11. Maybe you could start a jar for collecting pennies each time you make a random comment like these??! It could be called “Mrs MPB’s patience jar” – Mr MPB could be the judge and you could end up with a nice little savings account! ;-p

    • I love this idea, except Canada got rid of the penny a few years ago so it would have to be nickles or something like that. The only problem with this idea is that somehow I think all my change will end up in the jar! 🙂

  12. I would be exactly the same way!!!! I think it’s normal and people who have patience are odd lol

  13. This would totally be me! I can’t drop a topic if I’m worried about it, or obsessed with it, our excited about it, etc.

    Good luck to you both!!!
