A few days ago, Jasmine at Journey in the Woods recognized my blog with the Very Inspirational Blogger Award. I absolutely adore Jasmine, and I find so much strength in her writing as she shares her heartbreaking journey into motherhood and child loss with such astounding courage. Being recognized is always an honor, and I’m truly touched to know that others are finding my writing and my story inspiring.
To accept this award, here are the things I need to do (and in italics I’ve added the alterations I’m making to the rules, cuz that’s the kind of person I am):
1. Thank and link the amazing person(s) who nominated you. (done – Jasmine is awesome)
2. List the rules and display the award. (done – with my alterations added)
3. Share seven facts about yourself. (these will be fun facts that I haven’t mentioned in my blog before, because why not have some fun with this?)
4. Nominate 15 other amazing blogs and comment on their posts to let them know they have been nominated. (I am just going to list them in this post and not send individual emails, because I pretty sure the ones I list will read this and see their own blog names – I know not everyone will participate, but I want to recognize the blogs that I find inspiring.)
5. Optional: Proudly display the award logo on your blog and follow the blogger who nominated you.
Seven Fun Facts About Me:
- I love all flowers, but my favourite flower is the Gerber Daisy. I think they are happiest of all flowers.
- When home alone and left to my own devises I live off Kraft Dinner. Not because it’s good, but because I’m never feel like cooking just for myself and Kraft Dinner is so easy that once I’m hungry enough, I’ll take the 10 minutes necessary to cook it.
- The only thing in our house that is visible from our wedding, is our rather unconventional wedding cake topper – Mario and Princess. I/we have just never gotten around to printing and framing a wedding photo and the few other things we kept are in a box in the storage room. (Even I find this a bit odd…)
- I love making photo albums from all our trips and shenanigans. I use the MyPublisher. It’s not always perfect, and they charge a tonne to ship to Canada, but I love the quality of the printed albums so I keep sticking with them.
- I have never had a full cup of coffee in my life. This means, I made it through my undergraduate and master degrees without a single cup of coffee.
- I keep threatening to get a cat. Not because we particularly like cats, but because I think our dog could use a friend and right now I don’t have the energy for a second dog.
- I love the song Safe Upon The Shore by Great Big Sea. I have virtually no connection to the song, as I live in a landlocked city and I have never even been on an ocean fishing boat, but I think the song may be one of the most beautiful songs ever. The band never made a video for it, so this is the best I could find on YouTube. Anyways, I recommend just listening without actually watching the video. I think it is absolutely beautiful.
And, here is the reason I decided to participate – in addition to Jasmine, I want to showcase a few blogs that I particularly find inspirational. Know that I am not sending personal notifications to each blogger. So, if you are reading this and see your name below, consider this your nomination notification. 🙂
Before, I share my nomination list, which is listed in no-particular order, I want to add a few things. First, my list could most definitely have included many many more blog, but I had to draw the line at 15. SEcond, I have chosen to nominate blogs from a few different genres – infertility / recurrent pregnancy loss, adoption, parenting, photography and general life musings. Third, to those I’ve listed, please know that I adore your blog and find inspiration from you. Even though our stories may be different and our believes may be different, I respect our differences and enjoy learning from you. To each one of you, thank you for inspiring me by your approach to life whether it be overcoming obstacles, dealing with grief on a daily basis with grace and courage, or living life to the fullest and celebrating the seemingly small things. Not all days are easy, but each one of you has inspired me with your outlook and willingness to share your journey. Please know, that your contribution to my life has not gone unnoticed and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My Husband and I went out the other night for no reason other than it seemed like a good idea. First we went for sushi, my absolute favourite food, at a new restaurant near our house. It turned out to be excellent, and might just be our new sushi place. Then, we hopped in the car and went for a drive around the city to take photos. We did not do a good job figuring out where we were going, so at times it felt more like a Sunday drive without purpose on a Tuesday night, but that didn’t really matter to us. This might seem like an odd night out, but since I’m doing the #100happydays, my husband thought it would be fun. And, I had to agree. Of course, as an added bonus, because we were mostly driving around with short walks, it was also a good activity for someone with a broken ankle.
Simply put, an evening out without thinking of babies, adoption, miscarriages, etc., is classified as a great night out for us!
And, as an added bonus, it really was fun. We just chatted and spent some time in the fresh air.
Based on the success of our night out, I’ve decided that our photography date night should be added to the list of positive coping mechanisms.
Anyways, rather than doing a big post today, I am going to share a few of the photos, that don’t really give away which city I live in – keeping this blog anonymous is super annoying at times! But be forewarned, I have saved my favourite photo for my #100happyday project – so, you will have to wait until next week to see my personal favourite.
Our first stop was at an old historic bridge that crosses one of the main rivers in the city:
The second stop was at a park overlooking the City and the water reservoir. And, I even included a picture of me, but only because I was having fun playing with the light and shadows.
I hope everyone has a great weekend filled with happiness and sunshine.
