You’ve Got To Be Kidding Me?!

Baby MPB is now is teething again.  So in addition to his on-going high fever, he is now cutting through a tooth.  And it is not going well.

The last 2 teeth he handled without even really noticing them.  This tooth, on the other hand, not so much.  I’m pretty sure it’s trying to suck any remaining enjoyment out of his life.

Baby MPB is officially not sleeping for more then 2 consecutive hours.  Now, I realize for many new parents they are used to this, but we are not.  We have been spoiled – since Baby MPB’s birth he has slept in a minimum of 4 hour chunks, and more recently typically he does about 8 hours consecutively.  Seriously, I have no idea how other parents do this lack of sleep thing regularly, I am in awe of any parent out there who has battled for sleep night in and night out.  But I digress.

As of now, Mr. MPB and I are both losing our minds with worry about this fever and now we have to attempt to be calm and collected without sleep.

The only good thing is that Baby MPB has some of his typical happy energy back – he is smiling and playing when he’s awake.  And so long as we don’t try to feed him or try to put him to bed or try to give him Tylenol/Advil, he’s actually okay.

But clearly we have to try to feed him, put him to bed and give him Tylenol/Advil to keep his fever down.

Let me tell you, it is not a fun week over here in the MPB household.

  1. I am so sorry! No sleep is so hard! The 3rd and 4th teeth were the worst for us (they were both top teeth). The only thing that helped at all was the baby nighttime oragel. I hope his illness is on its way out too and you guys can get back to normal very soon!!

  2. Oh no! Can cutting teeth cause fever? I feel like I’ve heard that before, but I could be wrong. Either way, hope that tooth gets through and he beats this fever soon!

  3. Sorry baby MPB isn’t feeling well! Archer had a high fever a few weeks back and no other symptoms. It really freaked me out because he wasn’t sick in any other way. After 3 days the fever went away and we still don’t know what hidden infection he was fighting but he’s all better now. As for teeth, Archer was the same too. The first two (bottom) popped up without us even noticing but the next few were killer. I really hope the tooth comes through soon and that his fever goes away too and that you get back to your reg sleep schedule! I hear you. It’s so hard to deal with any time but I think even harder once they start sleeping through the night and then stop. Sending you guys healing and healthy vibes ❀️

  4. Hang in there. Hopeful reprieve is just around the corner. In the meantime- I hope you and Mr. MPB remember to be kind to one another because I know this kind of stress can cause tension. Xoxo

  5. Any chance the fever is from teething? Although I guess it’s pretty high to be teething, now that I think about it. Nora is back to waking at night because of her teeth too. I miss sleep!

  6. teething will create illness like symptoms. fever, runny nose, diarrhea. perhaps this is why he’s battling an ongoing fever. it’s a terrible phase when the two hour sleeping kicks in. just sleep as much as you can, stock up on coffee and take a lot of deep breaths haha hang in there!

    • You are an amazing individual and have all my respect for functioning and parenting without decent sleep on a regular basis!! This is also Baby MPB’S third tooth and it’s just been horrible. Hopefully J-bug and Baby MPB cut those teeth quickly!
