When Plans Don’t Go To Plan

Just when things are going well, they suddenly stop going so well.  I really should just start expecting this…

We have a new and a very much unexpected stress to add into the mix – our flights did not go as planned.

The good news is that we have safely landed.

The not so good news is that we are NOT in the state we should be right now. And we have no ETA for when we will actually get to where we need to be.

Oh, and did I mention, our potential birth mother is now in labour?

  9. Eeeeeek! I hope there’s something the airlines can do for you! If for no other reason than to see how long it takes them to figure it out, I hope you’ve been able to say to a desk agent “If I don’t get on the next flight, I might miss the birth of my son!” Keeping everything crossed for you!!!

  10. oh no! fingers crossed and lots of good thoughts! remember – end of the day, this is a small speed bump on the way to your baby. it will all work out! but, it sucks that in the meantime you have to deal with the incompetence of airline travel. 👎🏻

  13. Oh my gosh!!! I’m so sorry. I would definitely appeal to the booking agent and see if there is anything they can do. I can’t imagine how stressed you are- I gave a giant gasp when I read this. However, this snafu also means that baby MPBs birth story is going to be really exciting! *hugs*

  15. How, how, HOW? I cannot believe this. I’m so sorry.

    I’m going to say this – being there would be great, but if you miss it, that’s ok too. Having had 2 scheduled c-sections, I sort of feel like I missed my kids births a bit because I couldn’t hold them until I was out of surgery. I never saw them all messy and bloody, I never saw their umbilical cord, I never saw their blue little hands when they were trying to warm up. And…. They both think I’m their world. They don’t hold it against me, so I don’t hold it against me either. 😉

    But I hope you can make it. ❤

  19. I’m so sorry! I hope you can either start driving or get a new flight soon. In the end, you’ll have the same result after all this. Your son in your arms. Hang tight mama.

  20. Ack!!!! Oh my goodness. I really hope a flight comes through for you guys or you find some other way to get there. How nerve-wracking!! Sending you more positive thoughts and prayers!!

  26. Yes in hindsight this will all be a drop in the bucket but right now I cannot imagine the stress you are under. So frustrating. I have a friend who had their son thru surrogate and she went into labor at 32 weeks in Hawaii. They lived in New Jersey. By some miracle they were able to make it all the way to Hawaii and were there to see their son being born. I hope the same for you!

  33. Ahhhhh how frustrating!!!! I am sending you every single ounce of positivity I can muster that you two get where you need to go! Best wishes for safe travels, an uncomplicated delivery, and wonderful bonding time with baby MPB. Hugs!!

  36. Oh my word. I shall pray for a speedy and safe forward journey and a very long labour ;). They say the best things in life don’t come easy, just keep thinking of the end goal. You’re on the home straight petal, the finishing line is in view a dim so excited for you. I do hope you get there in time xxx
