#100HappyDays Continued – Days 223 – 229
Another week of photos for your viewing pleasure.
I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed each moment.
Day 223 – February 14, 2015: When we booked our trip to Whistler, we made the assumption that there would be plenty of snow in the middle of February so that we could go skiing. We were wrong. There was virtually no snow, so we decided not to fly our skis out just to ski terrible conditions. So, instead we decided to bring our winter boots and snowshoes. Once we arrived, we discovered there wasn’t even enough snow for that! So, we made the most of it and we found ourselves hiking in our horribly warm winter boots on trails that are usually snow covered until at least May. Today we hiked 6 km (3.7 mi) to Cheakamus Lake – the weather was near perfect and the scenery was stunning. While we had many other happy moments today, the few hours in nature were definitely my happiest.
Day 224 – February 15, 2015: After sleeping most of the morning away, today we enjoyed another shorter (3km/1.9mi) hike to Nairn Falls. We also enjoyed an evening of drinking and people watching on another patio in the main square. It was truly a splendid day. And my happiest photo goes to a piece of ice that Mr. MPB picked up out of a small puddle and suggested I take a photo of it with the blue sky and mountains in the background – it’s so random and weird that I just love it!
Day 225 – February 16, 2015: On our way back to the airport to fly home, we stopped by Granville Island to stock up on salmon jerky and we also visited the Under Water Zoo (aka Vancouver Aquarium) for a fun filled afternoon of watching cute sea creatures including jellyfish, beluga whales and dolphins. We had a great time!
Day 226 – February 17, 2015: Yesterday, we stumbled upon one of the two lenses I want for my camera at a used camera store. It was such an amazing deal that we bought! So I now have my early birthday present – the Tamron AF 90mm f/2.8 Di SP A/M 1:1 Macro Lens for Pentax. And today I am super happy to be trying it out!
Day 227 – February 18, 2015: Whenever we go hiking outside of a national park, I pick up a rock from the hike. Today as I unpacked my suitcase and added my new rocks them to my collection, I couldn’t help but smile as I remembered our beautiful weekend.
Day 228 – February 19, 2015: Today felt like a day that deserved some extra happiness, so I bought myself some of my favourite flowers – Gerbera daisies (and yes, I bought them at Costco). Daisies always make me happy and as an extra happy bonus I had so much fun playing with my new camera lens.
Day 229 – February 20, 2015: What would a week be if I didn’t include a picture of some sort of food? Today, I ate the last of our salmon jerky that we picked up and I thoroughly enjoyed every little savoury bite.
Wishing everyone splendid happy moments!

That first picture is absolutely breathtaking!!! I’m so glad you had a fun trip. The flower is beautiful!! Hooray for early birthday presents, ESPECIALLY when you get a good deal on them!

Thanks Amy! We had the entire lake to ourselves so we really enjoyed out time relaxing in nature. 🙂
I am absolutely loving my birthday present! Mr. MPB did good.

Beautiful photographs! I am so glad you’re continuing to hone your skills with a new lens. I love salmon jerky too. There are a couple of different kinds- which one is your favourite?

Thanks! I’m not surprised that you like it too – it’s just so yummy! Mr. MPB tends to like the candied salmon or even the double-smoked. But I always choose the plain old jerky style. 🙂

That picture from Whistler is so beautiful! Catch’s aunt used to have a place there–I can’t believe there’s no snow!

I think I read that it’s the worse year for snow since sometime in the 1970s! It was really sad actually. But, we made the most of it. 🙂
I love that you know Whistler too! We have a family place there, but don’t seem to get there much anymore. We actually lived there for a few summers back in our younger university day – we both adore Whistler in the summer.

You made it to my other favourite place in V-Ville! I love the Aquarium and cannot wait to take the MT there again now that he will understand more of it.

We both love the Aquarium, but don’t stop everytime we are in Vancouver – in fact, we think it’s been probably 5 or more years since we had been last. It is always so much fun. I’m sure MT will love it now that he’s a bit older, and Mr. MPB talked about taking our kids there one day too.

I just loved these, sweetie, especially the one of the jellyfish. I’ve never seen one up close and personal, unless the dead variety counts. Sadly, I’ve seen lots of those littering the beaches of southern Brazil.
How long have you been into photography? Has it always been a passion??

I never want to see a Jellyfish like that in the wild, but they are really neat to watch in the safe setting of an aquarium.
As for the photography, when I was a kid I always liked to take photos and as an adult I’ve always enjoyed taking photos when we travel, but the 100 happy day project has helped this hobby become a daily passion.
