Very Inspirational Blogger Award
A few days ago, Jasmine at Journey in the Woods recognized my blog with the Very Inspirational Blogger Award. I absolutely adore Jasmine, and I find so much strength in her writing as she shares her heartbreaking journey into motherhood and child loss with such astounding courage. Being recognized is always an honor, and I’m truly touched to know that others are finding my writing and my story inspiring.
To accept this award, here are the things I need to do (and in italics I’ve added the alterations I’m making to the rules, cuz that’s the kind of person I am):
1. Thank and link the amazing person(s) who nominated you. (done – Jasmine is awesome)
2. List the rules and display the award. (done – with my alterations added)
3. Share seven facts about yourself. (these will be fun facts that I haven’t mentioned in my blog before, because why not have some fun with this?)
4. Nominate 15 other amazing blogs and comment on their posts to let them know they have been nominated. (I am just going to list them in this post and not send individual emails, because I pretty sure the ones I list will read this and see their own blog names – I know not everyone will participate, but I want to recognize the blogs that I find inspiring.)
5. Optional: Proudly display the award logo on your blog and follow the blogger who nominated you.
Seven Fun Facts About Me:
- I love all flowers, but my favourite flower is the Gerber Daisy. I think they are happiest of all flowers.
- When home alone and left to my own devises I live off Kraft Dinner. Not because it’s good, but because I’m never feel like cooking just for myself and Kraft Dinner is so easy that once I’m hungry enough, I’ll take the 10 minutes necessary to cook it.
- The only thing in our house that is visible from our wedding, is our rather unconventional wedding cake topper – Mario and Princess. I/we have just never gotten around to printing and framing a wedding photo and the few other things we kept are in a box in the storage room. (Even I find this a bit odd…)
- I love making photo albums from all our trips and shenanigans. I use the MyPublisher. It’s not always perfect, and they charge a tonne to ship to Canada, but I love the quality of the printed albums so I keep sticking with them.
- I have never had a full cup of coffee in my life. This means, I made it through my undergraduate and master degrees without a single cup of coffee.
- I keep threatening to get a cat. Not because we particularly like cats, but because I think our dog could use a friend and right now I don’t have the energy for a second dog.
- I love the song Safe Upon The Shore by Great Big Sea. I have virtually no connection to the song, as I live in a landlocked city and I have never even been on an ocean fishing boat, but I think the song may be one of the most beautiful songs ever. The band never made a video for it, so this is the best I could find on YouTube. Anyways, I recommend just listening without actually watching the video. I think it is absolutely beautiful.
And, here is the reason I decided to participate – in addition to Jasmine, I want to showcase a few blogs that I particularly find inspirational. Know that I am not sending personal notifications to each blogger. So, if you are reading this and see your name below, consider this your nomination notification. 🙂
Before, I share my nomination list, which is listed in no-particular order, I want to add a few things. First, my list could most definitely have included many many more blog, but I had to draw the line at 15. SEcond, I have chosen to nominate blogs from a few different genres – infertility / recurrent pregnancy loss, adoption, parenting, photography and general life musings. Third, to those I’ve listed, please know that I adore your blog and find inspiration from you. Even though our stories may be different and our believes may be different, I respect our differences and enjoy learning from you. To each one of you, thank you for inspiring me by your approach to life whether it be overcoming obstacles, dealing with grief on a daily basis with grace and courage, or living life to the fullest and celebrating the seemingly small things. Not all days are easy, but each one of you has inspired me with your outlook and willingness to share your journey. Please know, that your contribution to my life has not gone unnoticed and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you so much for the nomination!! Gerber Daises are my favorite flower too. I love that they look like weeds, but then produce such amazing flowers. I can’t wait to check out some of the blogs you listed! Thanks again! 😊

You are one of my favorite. bloggers and we share so much in common, so it was an easy nomination. 🙂
I had no idea that Gerber Daises start by looking like weeds – I’ve never actually grown them. Maybe this should be added to my list for next summer.

The coffee thing is definitely true. Eventually the problem became that if I tried coffee it tore my stomach to pieces, so I never got around to developing the coffee addiction. Oh, and the high doses of caffeine result in migraines, so there just wasn’t much point. 🙂
Anyways, if you choose to participate, I will definitely check out your post. As one of my favorite bloggers, holding onto the humor and optimism through this journey, it was an easy decision to nominate you. 🙂

I have actually been sitting here staring at my computer screen since yesterday trying to figure out how to tackle this nomination. I can’t decide if I should just give 7 facts….or spice it up a bit and give quirky and random facts. I think I will save the quirky and random facts for a future blog post.
Either way, I am just trying to have fun with it and make it humorous. All day yesterday I tried racking my brain for my Monday Funnies post. Hopefully it is funny. LOL!
My creative juices do not seem to be flowing this weekend

Thank you for the nomination! I had a friend in high school who just loved Great Big Sea. It’s been such a long time since I’ve seen her. I love reading your blog too. It’s the similarities, but also the uniqueness of each of our stories that makes them worth telling.

You’ve made my day 😀 I look forward to seeing more of yours on the 100 days of happy and you so deserve this award for multiple reasons. P.s – you should totally get a cat, mine thinks he’s human – a human that sleeps for 20 hours a day!

I love both your blogs, but decided to nominate this one for two reasons – first, I wanted to spread around my 15 nominations and secondly, I love your photos! As I’m working on my 100 days of happy, your photos give me motivation to get awesome shots!

Thank you so much for the nomination, sweetie. I don’t quite know how I missed seeing it the first time around, but I appreciate your gentle nudge over at Jo’s blog.
I giggled out loud when I read about your affinity for Kraft Mac n Cheese. I do the same when I’m alone. It is done for time, yes, and to have something hassle-free, but it is also the only thing that didn’t make me sick during my 3 pregnancies. Because of that, it’s become my comfort food of choice.
With blessings and thanksgiving,
Dani
