Another Step Complete

As of this morning our post-placement home-study visits are now complete!

And as odd as it is, I’m kind of sad to know that they are done, I really like our social worker.  And, I loved visiting with someone whose sole job it was to come and listen to me gush about Baby MPB.  But, that little twig of sadness is quickly vanishing as I realize this means we are one step closer to being done with the adoption process.

This means next our social worker finalizes her reports.  Then our local agency approves them and sends everything to our provincial government.  Then the government sends everything to the agency in the USA.  The agency in the USA then sends everything to the lawyer and judge.  The lawyer and the judge then decide on a date for the adoption finalization.

It could take months for all of this to happen, but at least we are one step closer to being forever finished with the adoption process.  We’ve done our part and now we just wait for all the other pieces to fall into place.

And at this point all we can do is hope that the USA agency doesn’t screw us around some more.  Unfortunately we’ve learned from past experience whenever they are involved something is bound to be unnecessarily stressful.

  2. Awesome, so happy for you! Your feelings of bittersweet are familiar. When we stopped seeing our midwife after 6 weeks it was sad for me for a lot of the reasons you state.
