Today
I normally post every weekday morning.
Today I did not.
Maybe, some of you have been wondering what’s up. And a few of you may even have been worrying because it’s so unlike me not to post. And a few others may have been excited that something adoption related happen (it didn’t so I’ll just crush that possibility right away).
So, I thought I’d write about why I didn’t post this morning.
.
It’s been a long week from a work perspective, with a few adoption emotions just to keep me on my toes. I managed to sleep in my own bed every night this week, but it was still busy:
Monday – 15 hours, including 5 hours of driving.
Tuesday – normal, about 8 hours.
Wednesday – 15 hours, including 5 hours of driving.
Thursday – 12 hours, including 4 hours of flying.
Last night (Thursday) on my way home I realized that Mr. MPB was actually at an evening meeting. So, I decided to stop by Subway to grab dinner – if I’m going to have a rare evening at home along, I might as well put my feet up and relax, right?
So, when I actually walked through the door, it was about 7:30pm. Which truthfully was a few hours earlier then I expected. So, I promptly said hi to the dog and fed her super. And marched myself directly to our bedroom to some comfy pajama pants and one of Mr. MPB’s t-shirts. I then proceeded to turn on my computer (to write and blog, not work); put reruns of Friends on the TV; poured myself a nice glass of white wine; ate my sub; and, had less then three sips of wine before I passed out on the couch.
I think I feel asleep at about 8:30pm! I woke up at about 6:30am and attempt to work and write. But, evidently I was still exhausted and couldn’t focus on anything. So, I found myself curled up on the couch and fell back asleep for a few more hours!
Clearly, I needed to sleep.
And now I’ve spent the day not sitting in front of my computer for work or pleasure. I’ve done a bunch of errands and catching up on life necessities. We now have milk in our house! I said hello to a friend and scheduled a round of golf with her. And, while it took three stores, but I was able to get a new power button installed on my cell phone for just $30!! Oh, and I even have shampoo again (I actually ran out this morning so buying shampoo moved to the top of my priority list).
As long as I don’t think about my work to-do list, I’m feeling rather accomplished!
So, here I am at almost 3pm on a Friday deciding if I should attempt to get some work done, or if I should just call it a day and start my weekend now?
P.S. Thanks for everyone’s comments and love this week – I really appreciated your support helping me pick myself back up after that disappointing email! Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

Call it a day and start your weekend, you’ve had an exhausting week! And I LOVE how you had white wine with your subway – delicious!

I thought my subway and white wine combination was ingenious! Except then I fell asleep before I drank much of it.
I guess I will just have to properly enjoy a glass tonight. 🙂

Sometimes you’re too wiped out even to enjoy a drink… And you’re adjusting to working so much again.

I figured you might be a bit worried, which is why I hate to miss a regularly scheduled post. 🙂
And yes, sleep should be a regular habit. I think my priorities need to be re-set to include sleep.
P.S. I’m touched that you were worried.

Sounds like you needed a break from work! Glad you got some things done, and got your phone fixed! We need to get groceries tomorrow, since we’re out of lots of stuff. Plus B decided Sunday we need to have a BBQ with friends, so we need food for that! Anyway, hope next week is a bit calmer for you!

We’re going to have about 20 people, so we got tons of food today! It’s supposed to be about 75 and sunny, so it’ll be perfect!
