Versatile Blogger Award

I am honored to have been nominated for the Versatile Blogging Award.   As I had not heard of this blog award before, I thought I’d do a bit of research into it. I discovered that there is a blog dedicated to the award, and if you want to read more you can check it out here – The Versatile Blogger Award.

20150307 - Versatile Blogger Award

I was nominated by Kenzie at While We Wait. Kanzie is a fellow Canadian who now lives in Australia, and she has an awesome blog. I highly recommend checking it out.

These are the rules when you are nominated:

1. Post the award on your blog
2. Thank the person who nominated you
3. Share seven facts about yourself
4. Nominate 15 blogs
5. List the nominees and let them know

Seven Facts About Me

I decided to try to come up with seven facts that I have not shared on my blog before (I think). It took me a lot of time to think up this list and in the end I’m not sure if I succeeded.

  1. I am organized. Some would even say I am freakishly organized.  (Okay, this one might be obvious to those who regularly read my blog).
  2. I’m slow to let people get close to me but once I do I am fiercely loyal to those who are loyal back. But once I feel hurt by someone, I will keep them at a distance and it’s unlikely they will ever get let back in.
  3. I love to travel. If I could afford it, I would travel somewhere different every few months. I enjoy every place I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to, and I would go back to Angkor Wat in Cambodia and Northern Thailand in a heart beat.  However, I almost always would prefer to go somewhere new so that I can take in a new culture and way of life. Right now I really want to go to Iceland, Northern Canada, South Africa, and Italy.
  4. My favourite colour is blue.  If we ever have a little girl she will likely wear blue from time to time.
  5. I love chocolate and sweets has resulted in more than one stomach ache over the years. I have no learned that I simply cannot eat anything sweet in the morning because when I do I will always end up feeling sick for the rest of the day.
  6. I am used to a professional setting where people tend to work efficiently. I attribute this to my displeasure with people who waste my time. There is nothing more annoying in the world to me then someone who takes too much time to complete a task, or who doesn’t do it well enough when I know they can do better.
  7. I cannot stand rude and disrespectful behaviour. I was raised to be polite and respectful and to exhibit these characteristics in my daily interactions. To this day I place significant value in treating others well, no matter who they are.

My List of Nominees

I really don’t like this part of the blogging award world – I follow so many great blogs that I find it such a challenge to pick only a handful to nominate. 1. I really wish I could travel more. I have been fortunate enough to go to Canada and Mexico multiple times each, and to Dominican Republic last year. I’d love to go to more though!

  2. Both DW and I are so #6 and #7. We are super efficient people and don’t suffer fools well (it is probably my greatest weakness- my lack of patience with this). It also grinds my gears when I see people acting disrespectfully. As a teacher, I take a great deal of time and make a huge effort to try to help kids to value respect for themselves and others. It is increasingly difficult in a society where we so easily dispose of things and people, rather than take the time to fix them. Thank you for the nomination! I am honoured, and will hopefully get on it next week 🙂

    • I am not surprised that you and DW are 6 and 7! I imagine these traits must be so important as a teacher!!
Looking forward to your post – it will be great to learn some more about you. 🙂

  4. You are loyal. :-). An excellent attribute. I wish I were more efficient more of the time.

Thank you so much for the nomination. I need a good kick in the pants to start blogging more. I was at L&D again late Thursday afternoon and evening this week (just when I thought this was my first medical-professional-free week in a month) and have been feeling rather low. I’m looking forward to writing my grateful acceptance of your nomination post. 🙂

      • Sorry, no need to panic. Baby is doing well. We don’t know what exactly is going on with me but the L&D resident suggested I should expect to be monitored pretty closely in future. I had Petichae (bleeding under skin), daily headaches for a week that don’t get better with Tylenol (I never get recurrent headaches even in pregnancy) and incessant seeping blood from my Lovenox injection sites. The latter was what had me sent to the hospital to assess if I might have early onset HELLP or preeclampsia. Nope, thank goodness. Never a dull moment huh?

      • Clearly never a dull moment!! I’m glad baby is okay and there is no signs of HELLP, but it sure sounds like your body needs a break! I’m glad they resident took you seriously, and I hope you do get more monitoring!

  6. Thank you so much for nominating me! I am going to try to actually do it this time. I don’t know why, but I’m so bad at writing to award posts. Also, I love little girls in blue! Also, also, your Iceland email is coming soon–I haven’t forgotten about it. It’s been nuts at work this week.

    • I find these things hard to write too, they sit in my draft folder forever! 🙂
I’m excited for your Iceland email, but no rush. We haven’t even booked anything yet. I hope you weekend is calm to make up for a busy week at work.

    • They really are pretty amazing women, lots of quality blogs to read.
P.S. you are on my list for the next award I have to do – I had to spread out all the great blogs. 🙂

      • Much of what you share/write has Scorpioesque traits. Usually, I’m pretty decent at discovering other members of the cyclone. A little off this time though…

      • I’ve never matched the Pisces personality traits too well. Although through this RPL stuff, I do think I’ve become more in touch with the emotional characteristics of a Pisces.

  7. Thank you so much for the nomination 😀 Can’t believe I missed it. AND was going to say I’m exactly the same except for the colour blue thing and interestingly I am a Scorpio. Weird! I think pisces and scorpio are quite similar with a lot of things though.
