It’s An Award Kind of Day

I was nominated for two blogging award recently(ish). And, while I may be slow to do them, today seemed like a great day to join in the fun.

20141005 - Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award1First up is the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers. While I have already accepted this award in the past, I thought it would be fun to do it again as the questions are always different. I was nominated for this one by Electric Mystery. I adore her blog, and am touched that she thought of me.   I am very excited for her as she is expecting her very first baby after many struggles.

The rules are pretty simple:
1. Link to the person who nominated you.
2. Add the award logo.
3. Answer the questions your nominator has asked.
4. Nominate 7 other blogs and let them know via comments.
5. Ask your nominees 10 questions.

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be and why? Sushi. Because it is simply amazing.

What tradition do you most look forward to during the winter holidays (whichever holidays you celebrate, if any)? Christmas at home.

What was the last dream that you can remember having about? I almost never remember dreams, and the ones I do only stay around for a few minutes at best.

If you had one piece of advice for your 15-year-old self, what would it be? Learning to live without your mom and sister since they died has been hard, really freaking hard. While this might seem like the hardest thing you could ever face, remember not to take anything for granted because there are no guarantees that life will be easy or seem fair from here on out. Life is going to be hard, but you can do it. You can do it!

What is your favorite book? I love to read, so my favourite book of 2014 is Orange is the New Black by Piper Kerman. One of my all-time favourite books is The Devil in the White City by Eric Larson.

Do you have a hidden talent? What is it? None that I can think of.

Would you rather be able to fly or read minds? Why? Fly because as a child I always wanted to be a flying purple panda bear.

What is your middle name? Perfect, as in My Perfect Breakdown. Since my blog is anonymous, I’ll leave my answer with that.

Who is one person that you haven’t met that you wish you could meet? No idea. I don’t keep up with pop culture famous people, so they are all out. Probably one of my many favourite authors, but I’m not sure I can pick just one.

What was your first c.d. or musical purchase? Hold an Old Friends Hand by Tiffany and New Kids on the Block.

Here are my 7 Nominees and their 10 questions:

  • What is your favourite Movie?
  • Who is your favourite Disney Character?
  • What do you put on the top of your Christmas tree – star or angle or something different?
  • Do you have any animals? If yes, how many and what types?
  • Winter, summer, spring or fall? Do you have a favourite?
  • What makes you smile on a bad day?
  • What do you drive?
  • Why do you blog?
  • If you had 1 piece of advice for your 15 year old self, what would it be?
  • What is one thing you want to accomplish in 2015?

liebster2The other award is the Liebster Award. While I have participated in this award once before, I decided it was so much fun I would do it again. I received this nomination from another one of my favourite bloggers. I adore Katie at According to Kate. Her blog shares a glimpse into the life of a women and mother that faces lives challenges head on with respect and courage.

The rules for this award are pretty simple:

  • You have to link back to the person that nominated you.
  • You must answer all 11 questions given to you by the person who nominated you.
  • After completing these questions you must nominate 11 bloggers under 200 followers and give them 11 questions of your choice.

Coffee or tea? I have never actually had a full cup of coffee in my entire life. So, I’m clearly a tea person. Preferable Chai Tea Latte’s. But I’ll drink pretty much any tea, although I never add sugar or cream. My theory is that without adding anything it is just warm flavoured water, which is nice and healthy.
Who would play you in a movie based on your life? No idea.

Are you a morning person? Yup. If you don’t want to spend time with a cheerful and chipper person in the morning, then don’t stay at my house.

What is your favourite book? I love to read, so my favourite book of 2014 is Orange is the New Black by Piper Kerman. One of my all-time favourite books is The Devil in the White City by Eric Larson.

Would you rather be too hot or too cold? Too hot. I am always cold, so I prefer to be warm.

What X-Men mutation would you have and why? I love that Katie thinks I have watched and paid attention to the x-men. I think I watched the first movie years ago, but I have no idea what there mutations are.

What is your favourite film of all time? I fall asleep in almost all movies. We just watched Adult Children of Divorce, and I stayed awake and it was pretty good. Not my all-time favourite, but it was good.

Who is your favourite artist (paint/drawing/photographer)? Oh, I cannot narrow it down to one. I love any artist that can evoke an emotional response in me.

What is an ambition/dream you have not yet fulfilled? Children.

What’s a song that is guaranteed to get you singing along? Any really cheesy 1980’s or 1990s songs. I was one of the kids who loved New Kids on the Block, Tiffany, Roxette, Backstreet Boys. I can sing along (poorly) to any of them!

What’s a favourite childhood memory? Since it is the season of Christmas, I shall share a Christmas memory. When I was little on Christmas morning we were not allowed to go downstairs until everyone was awake and ready. My sister, brother and I would wake up each other and our parents. But since we were not allowed downstairs, us kids always sat on the stairs in our pajama’s doing our best at waiting patiently until our parents joined us. As an adult, I wonder if they sat in bed laughing at us giggling trying to contain our excitement.

Here are my 11 nominees in no particular order and 11 questions:

  • What is your favourite Song?
  • Who is your favourite Disney Character?
  • What do you put on the top of your Christmas tree – star or angle or something different?
  • Do you have any animals? If yes, how many and what types?
  • Winter, summer, spring or fall? Do you have a favourite?
  • What makes you smile on a bad day?
  • What is your favourite holiday?
  • What is your favourite childhood memory?
  • Why do you blog?
  • If you had 1 piece of advice for your 15 year old self, what would it be?
  • What is one thing you want to accomplish in 2015?

    • Thanks! That’s how I feel about these – it’s always fun to read something different about my favourite bloggers, and of course I enjoy these posts as they are just a tad bit silly and fun at the same time.
I hope to read your post. 🙂

    • Somehow I’m not surprised that you are not a morning person. You and I seem to be the exact opposite in so many ways (think back to your love of coffee and getting the systems going). But, I love our differences, they always make me smile (even if my smile is slightly awkward).
I hope you are having a wonderful weekend with goldilocks and your man! 🙂

  1. Thanks for the nomination! I am a total New Kids on the Block fan!!! I loved them long after their popularity waned and I used to get teased for it in school all the time. My parents got me concert tickets for Christmas one year and my friend Jessie and I went and saw them again as adults shortly after I moved back to WI.

    • I love you and your blog, so clearly you had to be nominated. 🙂
My parents wouldn’t get me tickets when I was a kid – I remember being so disappointed. But, I did go a few years ago as an adult and had a blast!

  3. Thank you so much for the nomination and your lovely words *blush*. I just realised how insensitive one of my questions was – “what is a dream/ambition not yet fulfilled” and the fact I nominated lots of RPL/IF bloggers. D’OH, what a fool I can be. I actually didn’t see it that way when I wrote it and was thinking along the lines of holidays/professional etc. Sorry if this upset you, super awkward… 😦

  4. NKOTB for the win! I wish I had all my big Jordan Knight buttons still 🙂 Ah, the memories. And I am with you on the tea – without cream/milk and sugar it does seem healthy, especially if it’s herbal! And thank you for the nomination 🙂

  5. Thanks for nominating me! I, too, am a morning person. I absolutely love being out and about while everyone else is sleeping. It feels like my own secret world. I also had to wait at the top of the stairs on Christmas morning with my brothers and sisters. It was torture at the time, but I look back on if fondly now.

    • I love your blog, so I’m hoping you participate so I can read all about you. 🙂
I’m not sure how we were actually able to sit at the top of the stairs, it always felt like we sat there for hours. I’m sure it was only 3 or 4 minutes, but it never felt that way.
