#100HappyDays Continued – Days 129 – 135
Another week of photos for your viewing pleasure. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed each moment.
Day 129 – November 12, 2014: I broke my favourite boots today (See Day 83 for what is now a memorial image) – the zipper pull tab literally snapped in half. (I suspect I can get them fixed, but that’s not the point when all you need in the moment is your favourite boots to keep your feet dry and warm). I overcame my grief when I remembered that I bought Uggs last year that I put away for the summer. So, my happy moment was warm and comfortable toes!
Day 130 – November 13, 2014: My happiest moment of today was not photographable – we spent another evening volunteering at a local homeless shelter. As the weather here is frightening (-16C / 3F), the shelters are all at capacity so it was a particularly good night to be volunteering. But, as I could not bring my good camera to the shelter, my second happiest moment of the day will have to suffice for today’s photo – finishing making venison sausage with Mr. MPB. We’ve been very busy turning the venison into ground venison and sausages, so this moment of happiness occurred at about 11:30pm when we started turning the final batch of ground venison into sausages. Seeing the end in sight was pretty awesome!
Day 131 – November 14, 2014: Today’s happy moment came when Mr. MPB left for the weekend on another hunting adventure…to kick off my solo weekend, I went straight upstairs and had a lovely hot bath with a giant glass of red wine, a book, some good music and a couple rounds of Candy Crush.
Day 132 – November 15, 2014: Today I met with an amazing women who shared her family’s adoption experience with me. I felt so hopeful, knowledgeable and excited talking with her. Yet, I didn’t quite feel comfortable asking to take a random happy day photo with someone I just met who invited me into her home with her young children – I didn’t want to turn myself into some sort of creeper. So, instead I took a photo of my new boots that I were worn for the very first time when I went to meet her. (As an added happy bonus, I was able to solve Day 129’s boot tragedy with this new pair).
Day 133 – November 16, 2014: On my way home from visiting with a great friend and her new adorable rescue dog, I looked out the car window and saw this sunset in progress. How could I not be happy?
Day 134 – November 17, 2014: My grandma makes the most amazing ginger snap cookies, and she knows I love them. So every now and again she gives me an ice cream pail full of cookies. I have absolutely no self-control when it comes to having them in our house. So, at my request, Mr. MPB took the pail and hid them from me a few days ago. We both laughed when I exclaimed with the pure excitement of a five year old on Christmas morning, “I found the bucket of cookies!!” Finding them was definitely my happy moment, although the excitement was short lived as while I finally found them, I cannot reach them.
Day 135 – November 18, 2014: Salted carmel gelato and red wine. An unexpected combination that may not be repeated anytime soon, but it still made me happy.
Wishing everyone splendid happy moments!

Thanks! I absolutely understand your love of shoes! My very first real job as a teenager was at a shoe store – my addiction started young :).

I LOVE all of the pictures (again, I love venison sausage lol) but the UGG boots are so cute! I would wear them everywhere!!

The venison is just awesome! I love that you too enjoy it!
As for the UGG’s they are super awesome so long as its not slushy and wet outside, then they just suck up all the water and turn gross. So, unless its slushy, which it is right now, I do wear them all throughout the winter. 🙂

Wait – can we talk about those boots? I love them!

Ha! I love the boots too – it’s a bit of an addiction. In fact, I just got my old brown boots back from the shoe repair man, and now I have no idea where to put them all! 🙂

Ha! My husband just made me get rid of a pair before i got a new pair. He doesn’t understand.

That sunset picture is AMAZING! I’m so jealous of your venison sausages, and that the mister goes hunting. I would love to learn how to hunt.

Stumbling upon that sunset was pretty nice! Even if I weren’t going my happy photo a day challenge, I would have stopped to take it in. 🙂
As for learning to hunt, that’s exactly what Mr. MPB did 3 years ago. He had never used a gun and never been hunting so he taught himself. He had to take the required gun courses, and learn to shoot and he learned to butcher a deer thanks to youtube. So, learning to do it can absolutely work. And as an added bonus I really enjoy eating it. 🙂

The sausage-making is so cool! I love your boots and always look forward to your happy moments post. I’m so glad you got to meet with the women and hear their experiences, that sounds helpful.

Thanks so much! The sausage making is fun for a little while. But it takes a long time, so by the time we were seeing an end in sight, we were both pretty happy!

I love the boots! I can’t seem to find any for my big calves tho…

I don’t understand boot makers, they never seem to fit anyone perfectly! I too struggle to find good fitting boots. Either they are too big or too small for people’s calves, you’d think by now the boot people would realize and accept that people come in all shapes and sizes!!

Exactly! And I can’t trust anything that says ‘One size fits all’ either lol

Love the boots!! I can’t believe it was so cold! I can see why the shelters were full. It’s admirable that you went to help out. Again, thanks for sharing your happy moments with us!

Unfortunately, where I live, it gets even colder! We usually spend at least a week or two in the -30s C (-20s F). The shelters can barely function, but they seem to find a way. And, clearly during those weeks, I will simply post multiple daily photos of me curled up on my couch under a blanket as I avoid going outside. 🙂

1) Where did you get those boots? 2) When I’m come to town, we are going for pedicures! 🙂 A nice hot bath has been my place of solitude over the past few weeks. My favourite thing about the winter season.

Which boots – the UGGs or the black ones? The UGGs came from an awesome blow-out sale when I was in Hawaii last year. The black boots are aerosols. They are super comfy and not terribly expensive since I fund them on sale. 🙂

Aerosols! I’m on a mission for new black boots

Absolutely check them out, they are not my first pair or aerosols and I’m sure they wont be my last pair. They are sold at a bunch of shoe stores here, and we have one aerosole specific store that has lots, obviously.
Good luck on your hunt! 🙂
