#100HappyDays Continued: Days 101 – 107

Day 101 – October 15, 2014: It’s been a hard day. A really hard day. So to pick myself up, I scoured the house for my old iPod Shuffle (to no avail) and put on some running clothes and tied up my shoe laces and started running in the crisp cool autumn air. It was my first run in over a year and it felt amazing! Maybe for my second run I’ll try to wear matching socks, and maybe even try find black socks to wear with my black shoes as to not commit a crime against fashion. Or maybe fun bright pink socks! It can only get better from here.

Day 102 – October 16, 2014: We went to see a band that a childhood friend of my husband plays in. I’m a Dave Matthews Band / John Legend kinda girl, so this particular band was not quite my style. As they are heavy metal band – think Korn on steroids – it was not quite my idea of good music. And to make matters worse, the bar was super skeezy, the food may have resulted in mild food poisoning, and it was so loud I still cannot hear myself think clearly. But, in all of this, there is still a happy moment of catching up with an old friend, and watching him live his dream.

Day 103 – October 17, 2014: I started unpacking my suitcase from our trip to New York City and I found myself a delicious and colourful treat. I love sweet things, particularly in the form of chocolate. I may end up fat, but at least I’ll be happy…I may have to run more.

Day 104 – October 18, 2014: I bought myself a present at the Skagen store in New York City. Today, I finally started using it.

Day 105 – October 19, 2014: While we were out running errands today, we found ourselves on the other side of the city near the park where we had our engagement photos taken a few years ago. So, we went for a walk, which was weird because we didn’t have our dog with us. We had a lovely stroll together on a beautiful fall day. (Note this is my first ever attempt at photo editing with Lightroom).

Day 106 – October 20, 2014: My husband asked me to pick up beans when I went to the grocery store today. I asked what type he wanted and he said any. Knowing full well he wanted green string beans, I decided to buy all the types in the store and then I arranged them nicely on the counter until he got home. Sometimes I find myself so incredibly funny.

Day 107 – October 21, 2014: A while ago I started developing some sort of eczema around my wedding ring.  Unfortunately, it seemed the only way I could get the eczema to completely go away was to stop wearing my ring.  My finger is now back to normal, and I am excited to start wearing my ring again after a long few months.

  1. That bag is gorgeous…I love a beautiful handbag! 🙂 I have to frequently go without my ring and it makes me sad too. In the summer, my fingers swell sometimes and it’s too uncomfortable to wear it and and in the winter between the dryness and all the hand washing that comes with doing doing daycare, the area around my ring gets really red and sore. So happy you have continued on with your beautiful pictures!

    • The ring thing is new for me – it has never happened before, so I’ve been really annoyed about it. I’m hoping my finger stays healthy now and it never happens again – I’m not sure I’ll get that lucky, but a girl can hope! 🙂
I also love my new bag. And I love that my camera fits nicely inside it, as this will make taking my daily photos a bit easier.

  2. Nice handbag! Day 105 is a good reason for why I want to live where you live 😉 I’m glad you found a little treat from your NYC trip too. Sometimes you just need to just treat yourself, even with something little. Hope you are doing well!

  5. I love the bag and you’re so funny with the beans! Regarding the rings… a friend of mine’s rings are gold… and she gets eczema when she wears them together… but not when she only wears one. I think she is allergic to the the whatever content (I forgot what it was) in the gold… like it’s too much when she wears both. So now she wears her engagement ring on her left hand and her wedding band on her right.

    • Now that’s an interesting observation from your friend – and now that I’m thinking about it, I never had this happen before I had my wedding bands permanently attached to my engagement ring! I think its a wonderful idea to switch up how I wear my ring, I’m sure it’s not that hard to have the ring broken apart again. Maybe it’s worth getting them unattached, and seeing how it works. I will definitely be looking into this! Thanks for the idea.

  7. Your bean photo is the best! That is something my husband would do to me! Hilarious! I love that you started running again. I haven’t ran since before loss #4 over a year ago, but always feel better when I do too. I’m looking forward to starting again when I have the okay to do so. As for the eczema, I have the same problem! My rings have a gap underneath them so I guess the jeweler can get to the stones when they need to be tightened or cleaned, but it causes water/moister to get trapped underneath and I’ve had eczema on my ring finger on and off for years. I try not to wear them, but always feel weird leaving the house without them on. So happy you’re continuing to do this. Thinking about you!

P.s. I definitely think you should get pink socks not black 🙂

    • Thanks for sharing about your eczema – until this started a few months ago, I never had a problem. But now I’m realizing its surprisingly common.
I am loving running again – somehow it just makes me feel good. I’ve always been an active person and not running or cycling for the last year has been really hard on me. So, at least I feel like I can get part of myself back from the never ending pregnancy bubble. I’m sure you too will love it when the time comes!
I love that your husband clearly has the same sense of humor as me – it is unique at times 🙂

    • Thanks!
I literally took my ring off for a few months until it completely healed. I used lots of moisturizer and hydrocortisone cream that I bought at a pharmacy in the USA (it’s stronger then what is available by prescription in Canada). The first time it happened I put my ring on before it completely healed and it came back badly within a few days. So, this time it took a few months, and now I’ve been wearing my ring again for a few days without any problem, although I have no idea how long it will last.
