#100happydays – Days 85 Through 91

Here is my thirteenth week of #100happydays. I am so close to crossing the finish line, that I can almost feel the sweet sense of accomplishment – only 9 days left!

Day 85 – September 29, 2014: Our dog, Sadie, makes me smile every single day! Seriously, her big brown eyes always make my heart melt. And her goofy antics provide me with at least one happy moment a day.

Day 86 – September 30, 2014: Today I went to Costco (I love Costco). While shopping I decided I needed to make sure I had something in the house to satisfy my dessert craving. I chose fresh strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. I knew that without a doubt I’d be happy washing, cutting and then eating my fruit! And, I bought enough to ensure the fruit induced happiness will continue for a few more days.

Day 87 – October 1, 2014: I splurged on a present for myself today. Let the fun begin!

Day 88 – October 2, 2014: My favourite happy moment today was enjoying a homemade chai tea latte. The reason this was a happy moment – I love chi tea lattes, it warmed me up and I love our mugs. About a year ago, I wanted to buy a set of 8 pottery mugs made by a local artist when we were spending a weekend somewhere in the Rocky Mountains. To buy a whole set was stupid expensive, so my husband suggested just buying one and adding to the collection whenever we found one traveling. So, to ensure we did this, I returned home and threw out our old mugs (this resulted in us only having the one new mug in our house for a few moths – ops!). Now I have a collection of random mugs, each made by a local artist somewhere we enjoyed visiting together! This one, my sister-in-law (who I adore) helped me pick out at a farmer’s market when we visited them in Victoria back in May.

Day 89 – October 3, 2014: Our Friday evening was spent with some great friends at a glass blowing class. We all questioned when we became old enough that a glass blowing class became a fun way to spend a Friday evening.  But, it turned out to be two hours of pure creative happiness!!

Day 90 – October 4, 2014: My parents sold the family farm and are relocating to the nearby city. So, today we made the 6 hour round trip to visit them and pick up a few things. As this may very well be the last time we go to the farm, there were some sad moments. But, we had a great visit with them, enjoyed checking out there new house which is under construction and we enjoyed playing with the dog in freshly harvested fields. On the whole, it was a happy afternoon.

Day 91 – October 5, 2014: Today we picked up the glass ornaments we made on Friday night. We clearly are not about to become glass blowing artists, but we had such a great time trying and it was so fun to see our creations today! We may turn some into Christmas tree ornaments, but for now, I’ve put them into a vase as a bouquet of glass lollipops.

    • She’s a rescue dog, so we don’t know what breeds she actually is. What we do know is that Sadie looks like a black lab, until she stands next to a real one. Then she just looks like a black dog! 🙂

      • She is pretty awesome! We did get her DNA tested for fun and to help raise money for the agency we adopted her from. One parent is a pure bread miniature pincher. There other is a mix of great paranese, German shepard, a Russell terrier and a parsons terrier. We can see the German shepard in her body length, and she has long legs like a great paranese. But we simply don’t believe any of the other ones.

  1. Sadie looks a lot like my pup, Rocky! Isn’t it amazing how guilty those big brown eyes can make you feel when you have to leave them at home? And those berries look relish…I have the same in my fridge right now, lol. I’m going to be really sad when they’re either not available or too expensive for the daycare kids and I have to keep having them every day…berries and bananas are the few fruits I am not allergic too.

    • Those brown eyes are able to melt my heart in seconds! Every single time!! I am so going to miss summer berries – those ones were already not local because they are done growing where I live.

  3. I’m in love with all that blown glass! They’ll make beautify ornaments. But they also look great the way you have them displayed!

  4. I love the glassblowing. T and I took a stained glass course with friends too. We also laughed that we must be getting older. It looks awesome though and they turned out perfectly! Oh and I love photoshop! That’s a great splurge! 🙂 My favorite picture is the farm picture. I think that visit was well worth the drive. 🙂

    • Stained glass would be so much fun too! I took stained glass in high school, but that was a long time ago now!
The farm was definitely a worthwhile trip both to wonder around the fields, but also to see my parents. 🙂
